Made-to-Order: The designers solving overproduction by thinking backwards
Made to order is not a new idea. It is, in fact, one of the oldest in the art of garment making. It begins with not one stitch being made until someone asks for it. As overproduction continues to define an industry built on excess, a growing number of independent labels are returning to this logic — and finding that it requires something different not just from manufacturers, but from the clients buying the clothes. A must needed behavioural shift and the willingness to wait.
